All Around Africa Coffee Tour

Celebrating the flavours and traditions of our Africa coffees! We have a variety of Africa coffees that would make for a perfect start to your day! There's so much to learn and so many places to visit!
Celebrating the flavours and traditions of our Africa coffees!
African Coffee has some of the most unique and distinctive flavours in the world, with Speciality coffee from Africa being loved for its punchy, fruity, and floral notes. This is largely due to the regions proximity to the equator, elevation and soil. We have a variety of African coffees from Congo, Ethiopia, Uganda and Kenya that would make for a perfect start to your day!

Kenyan coffees are well known for their bright acidity and this coffee is no exception! Kenya Sasini Estate is sweet and balanced with flavours of marshmallow, soft fruits and brown butter. Estates such as Sasini continue a legacy of many generations of coffee production, supported by unparalleled local knowledge and experience.

We move to another country that has gained a reputation for some of the most sought after coffees in the world- Ethiopia. Our award-winning Ethiopia Awash River comes from the Yirgacheffe region.  With the river as a rich source of clean water, the combination of high altitude, fertile soils and abundant sunshine provides ideal conditions for Arabica coffees!  This is an interesting and exciting mix of intense sweet mango, tropical fruits and blueberry!

Another delicious (and NEW addition) from Ethiopia is our Ethiopia Dumerso coffee!  This coffee has complex flavours of cranberry and blueberry balanced with hints of lavender and floral notes. The local indigenous ' heirloom' varietals which grow wild in Ethiopia are responsible for the unique flavour notes which make for a delicious cup of coffee. This coffee is incredibly unique and a well-rounded example of the wonderful coffees from this region.

Uganda Bukhanakwa
Our next stop is a short trip away to Uganda where we source beans for our Uganda Bukhanakwa with flavour notes of Mars bar, lemon, lime, and grape! This is Velo’s first coffee sourced from Uganda and it’s from the Mount Elgron region; an extinct volcano that is thought to have once been higher than Mt. Kilimanjaro. The Bukhanakwa community has very good coffee, some growing up to 2,100 masl. How’s that for a “fun fact” of the day?!
Kiambu county is located just outside of Nairobi City. The region has a long history of coffee production and is famous for its large estates, which were were originally built by British colonists in the early 20th century. After decolonisation, the estates were sold to local Kenyans who have been managing them since. Estates here continue a legacy of many generations of coffee production, supported by unparalleled local knowledge and experience. Tinganga Kenya is a light and complex coffee with notes of lime, passionfruit, and a lemon green tea finish.
Africa Coffee

Ladies and gentlemen this brings us to our LAST stop on the Africa coffee tour: DR Congo! Our DR Congo Mikeno Mountain Kivu has tasty flavours of raisins, milk chocolate, and summer fruits!  This is an acclaimed coffee across both the Democratic Republic of Congo and Africa. The farmers from this region have achieved a variety of distinctions and awards for the excellent beans that they grow and process.

This concludes our tour of our delicious, exciting, and unique Africa coffees! We hope you learned a little something, and maybe even found your new favourite coffee along the way!
