Stay cool with Velo’s cold brew!
Cold brew coffee is very unique in the sense it is like iced coffee, EXCEPT it is brewed without ANY heat at all; pretty cool huh?! (No pun intended!) You can make cold brew coffee in the comfort of your own home with your very own French Press. There is minimal preparation involved - you can make it before you go to bed so that you can take it to go first thing in the morning!
What’s even better, you can use ANY of your favourite Velo coffees to make cold brew! Making your own cold brew allows the brew to extract that rich coffee taste without the bitterness or acidity. So, make sure you have your favourite ground Velo coffee handy, your French Press, and of course, a large empty coffee mug ready to go!
What Do You Need?
- 170 grams (6 oz. OR ¾ cup) of coarsely ground Velo coffee
- 3 ½ cups (28 oz.) of cold water
What Do You Do?
Add the coarse coffee grounds to your French Press and then pour in the cold water. Put the lid on your French Press but don’t press the plunger down yet. After the French Press is filled and covered, place it in a cool, dark place for at least 12 - 15 hours. We recommend your refrigerator!
After 12 - 15 hours, your cold brew French Press will be ready to enjoy. This should yield a strong cup of coffee to keep you freewheeling throughout the day! Just be sure to use coarsely ground coffee in this recipe so you don’t end up with coffee ground sediment in your cup of cold brew!
Fill your empty coffee cup and enjoy with a refreshing smile!
