The perfect addition to go on our work top, which was starting to show wear and tear through trying to tamp the portafilter directly on the surface. The thick silicon is robust enough to provide a firm base for tamping.
This little rubber mat saves your worktop and the portagrinder from scratching each other and if you want to lightly tap the portagrinder to level out the ground beans you can do this with little noise and no damage to worktop or portagrinder. Only negative point I have with this is that because my worktop is slimline, the edge of the mat hangs out below the worktop and if I forget to move it before I open the cutlery drawer I can get stray grindings tipping into the drawer. So not the product really just my work top. I suppose I could modify it slightly if it bothered me that much.
This mat is compact and looks great on the countertop. The tamper sits on top of it.
