Taking a tour around South America with our delicious coffees!

South American countries produce most of the coffee consumed worldwide (fun fact!) We have a number of delicious coffees from all around South America, each one as delicious as the next. These coffees tend to be balanced, consistent, and often delicate coffees with a wide range of flavours! So, keep that in mind as we “pour over” into the details of some of our favourite coffees from South America.

Velo Coffee Roasters Colombia Dulima

The first stop on our tour is Colombia! We have three coffees that come to us from Colombia. First up is our Colombia Dulima from the Huila region! This coffee has a rich milk chocolate and caramel flavour that finishes with notes of tart apple and red fruit. Our single origin Colombia captures the essence of what a fine Colombian coffee should be!

Velo Coffee Colombia San Adolfo

We have a rarity from Colombia to share with you too! Colombia San Adolfo has truly unique and complex notes of cloudy lemonade, elderflower and jasmine. Pink bourbons are truly special varietals. Coffee cherries are harvested when ripe and pink, and then fermented in an anaerobic environment for 24 hours, de-pulped and then fermented for a further 24 hours. The coffee is then thoroughly washed and then dried in a parabolic greenhouse. The result is a light and fruity coffee with bright acidity. Pink Bourbon coffees are not found very often!

Our Colombia Nariño is cultivated by smallholder producers belonging to the Santana Project of the Ecoterra SAS Association. The Ecoterra SAS Association has been working in the Department of Nariño for years to support local producers by purchasing their coffee and, in turn, improving their quality of life. Their focus is to help farmers improve quality and build a reliable income over the long-term.

Velo Coffee Brazil Eagle Monte Carmelo

Cycle onto our next stop: Brazil! Our Eagle Monte Carmelo is a favourite among a number of our customers. This coffee has flavours of dark chocolate, caramel, and roasted nuts. This is a coffee you can drink all day and not tire of it. You can’t go wrong with a classic coffee from Brazil!

We have a new coffee from Brazil as well! Eagle Mogiano has flavours of chocolate, apple, and almond. Rich notes of molasses will help get you to the finish of this brew! The Mogiana region which runs along the São Paulo and Minas Gerais border, is home to some of the most consistently sweet and well-structured natural coffees produced in Brazil.

Velo Peru Kovachii

Our final stop on our South America coffee tour is Peru! Kovachii has a rich molasses flavour running through that is perfectly balanced with the freshness of plum and green apple. The Cajamarca region where this coffee is grown is known for its high altitude, excellent coffee, and great potential. We can’t wait to see what other great coffees may come from this region!

Alright folks, time to pack up and cycle on back! These coffees are all so unique, there’s something to suit everyone - which one are YOU going to try?!
