Why is there no roast date?

Bag gives best before date rather than roast date.

This makes me think these are lower quality coffee beans produced for a supermarket rather than a coffee from specialty coffee roasters.

Any decent specialty coffee roasters list the roast date on the pack, this is information you need to know if you want to brew good coffee.

Also I didn't get much distinct flavours when brewed with v60. I think this is better with a French press. I am also new to the v60 so I may not be brewing correct either.
